Everton ‘suffer chronic situation with lousy’ Calvert-Lewin – expert
Everton have a “chronic situation” for David Moyes to sort out in their attack with Dominic Calvert-Lewin offering a “lousy” goal return, according to Ian Darke.
The TV commentator, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, has blasted the scarce attacking output of the Toffees, with Calvert-Lewin potentially set to depart Goodison Park.
The once-England man has scored just twice this campaign, and not found the net since 14 September.
“It’s disappointing how long it’s been since he’s scored. He hasn’t been able to add to that – albeit off limited service, and he’s not the only one failing to hit the net. It’s a chronic situation with Everton,” Darke said.
“It’s just as well the defence has been better. He’s a good player, but his goal returns have become lousy – if it’s not Calvert-Lewin, they need someone who can score some goals.”
Everton looking to strengthen under Friedkins
With both a new ownership and a new – and also returning – management now in place, Everton fans will be hoping for reinforcements which will in time heavily strengthen the squad.
Calvert-Lewin remains heavily linked away with his contract expiring in the summer on Merseyside, now free to arrange a pre-contract agreement with any overseas club.

Armando Broja was injured in their last league outing at Bournemouth (4 January) – Sean Dyche’s final game before suffering the sack – while Beto scored in the FA Cup third round tie against Peterborough United (9 January).
In other Everton news, another first-team player whose contract is running down could be on the move in a new transfer twist.
