Everton squad set for ‘imminent transformation’ after David Ornstein reveal
The Friedkin Group could be set to provide David Moyes the firepower he needs at Everton.
Moyes will emerge from the Goodison Park tunnel for the first time upon his return when the Blues host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday evening (15 January).
Despite the Toffees walking the PSR tightrope in the winter transfer window, the transfer merry-go-round is in full effect on Merseyside.
And the supporters have been given fresh hope that Moyes will be backed this month, as The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed to NBC Sports (13 January, 1:25) what he expects the plan to be at Everton.
He said: “I think we could see a couple of new faces come in, certainly on the attacking side, maybe one for the here and now ready to hit the ground running, maybe one for the future as well.”
Everton to sign two players before 3 February
Unfortunately for Kevin Thelwell, most of his summer transfer dealings have failed to hit the mark at Goodison Park this season, and he cannot afford to misfire again.
Iliman Ndiaye and loanee Orel Mangala smoothly integrated into the first-team fold under ex-boss Sean Dyche – the same cannot be said for the rest.
Should Ornstein’s prediction ring true, Ajax defender Devyne Rensch fits the criteria as a signing for the future and also for the present – the Blues are serious contenders in the race for his services and were given fresh encouragement as director Alex Kroes admitted he is open to a sale.
However, with loan duo Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison failing to register a single-goal contribution this term and Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto facing uncertain futures, Moyes has some hard decisions to make.

With Armando Broja set for another scan after he lasted 21 minutes in the 2-0 win against Peterborough United (9 January) – a new forward is a necessity.
Who Everton will target to lead the front line remains to be seen, and while the current squad could benefit from an extensive rebuild, two new faces would be a good place to start the Moyes era.
All it takes is that one ready-go-player to slot in – ideally a striker – as well as the exciting player for the future, and it will be enough to completely transform this Everton squad in one swoop.
