Moyes to use contacts for new Everton signing, striker wanted – Sky Sports

David Moyes will make use of his contacts in the game to help Everton find reinforcements in the winter transfer window, according to Sky Sports’ Tim Thornton.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ transfer round-up (14 January, 7:45pm), Thornton said that despite the Blues facing “financial constraints” to sign players before 3 February, Moyes is still hopeful of strengthening.

Signing a forward player is a top priority for the Toffees as Moyes looks to drag them away from the Premier League relegation zone, with his current strikers having just three goals between them this term.

Thornton said: “David Moyes is hoping his contacts in the game will help Everton strengthen during this window despite financial constraints. A forward is very much a priority.”

David Moyes to have big influence on Everton transfer policy

Moyes’ return to Goodison Park after 12 years away could prove to be the change which revolutionises Everton’s season, but it’s the current Blues squad which needs a revolution more than anything else.

Sean Dyche’s unwillingness to make full use of his squad, particularly the signings made on his watch, leaves Moyes with a squad which has plenty of question marks over it going into the winter window.

With right-wing and left-back also in need of attention [Sky Sports, 1 January], Moyes will be hoping his contacts, as well as the backing of The Friedkin Group, can bring much-needed additions into the mix.

The Scot also faces big decisions on some of his current crop of strikers too, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of contract come the summer and Beto having been on the brink of an escape route to Serie A.

If Moyes decides to part ways with one or both of his striking options before 3 February, he and the Friedkin Group could have a huge task to craft a squad which is stronger than the one he inherited.
