Simon Jordan hits back at what Everton fans have said about David Moyes return

Simon Jordan has hit back at the idea of David Moyes knowing Everton Football Club after 12 years away from Goodison Park.

The Scot left Goodison Park in 2013 after 11 wonderful years with the Toffees, with that period being largely romanticised after confirming his return to Merseyside.

Sean Dyche was under tremendous pressure, with The Friedkin Group clearly feeling they had no other option, but Jordan is not completely convinced about the appointment yet.

Speaking live via talkSPORT [15 January, 12:50pm], Jordan said: “David going back to Everton… I don’t know. They say you should never go back. I don’t know how successful he’ll be.

“I never thought Everton were going to be relegated under Sean Dyche. The mood music will change because there will be the feeling of, ‘Okay, you’re the saviour. We’re waiting for you.’

“The club’s changed! He’s been gone 20 years! It might have the same spirit in the fanbase but it doesn’t have the same culture behind it [Moyes actually left 12 years ago].

“It’s a different animal from the one Moyes knows. All this, ‘Moyes knows…’ – it’s changed! It’s a different club.”

Can David Moyes lead Everton away from the relegation zone?

The Toffees have never been relegated from the Premier League, and Moyes would be gutted to be the first manager to lead the club out of the top division since 1954.

Dyche certainly left the team in a difficult predicament, with only one point currently separating them from the dropzone after 19 matches and just one bad result away from dropping into it.

With upcoming clashes against Aston Villa, Tottenham and Brighton, Moyes will need to work quickly to address the current problems at Goodison Park, most of which come in attack.

Only Southampton have scored fewer goals than the Toffees in the Premier League this season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto and Armando Broja all struggling for form.

With Dwight McNeil still sidelined, the likes of Iliman Ndiaye, Jesper Lindstrom, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jack Harrison desperately need to step up if Moyes has any chance of salvaging Premier League safety.

In other Everton news, the Toffees’ transfer stance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin has become crystal clear after what David Moyes said.
