Chris Sutton slams ‘delusional’ Everton after what he was told about Sean Dyche
Everton and their fans are delusional to think they should be higher in the Premier League than they are right now, according to Chris Sutton.
Assessing the Toffees’ situation, Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman claimed that they are not better than any of the eight teams above them in the table.
He is of the view that the Merseyside-based club are where they deserve to be and blasted the feeling of injustice about Sean Dyche.
“Is the Everton squad better than the Manchester United squad? No”, Ladyman said on Daily Mail’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast (16 January).
“Better than the Palace squad? Probably not. Better than the Tottenham squad? Definitely not.
“Better than West Ham, Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth – and you’re up to eighth? They’re not.
“So, they’re where they should be, so why this great feeling of injustice around Goodison about the fact that Sean Dyche had them where they are?
“I know the style of play was an issue, I get it, but equally they are where they would expect to be.”
Meanwhile, Sutton, who has previously spoken in support of David Moyes, thinks there is “delusion” among the Blues faithful.
“The Everton fans, their thought process was that they should be competing possibly mid-table, possibly higher up, and that was… well, that is delusion”, the pundit said.
Ladyman replied: “Absolutely, delusion is at work if that’s what they think.”
Chris Sutton and Ian Ladyman right about Everton, David Moyes has tough job
Leave Manchester United and Tottenham, it is hard to deny that the likes of West Ham, Brighton and Brentford have better squads than Everton.
Therefore, the Toffees supporters can have no complaints about the team being placed in 16th place in the Premier League after 20 games.
However, it is the proximity to the relegation zone that bothers most fans. It is worth noting that the Merseyside-based club are just a point above 18th-placed Wolves, albeit with a game in hand.
It is hard to believe that the squad is not good enough to register more than three wins in 20 games.
Furthermore, most fans also found Dyche’s pragmatic approach to be counter-productive as goalscoring has become a major concern for Everton.

Moyes now needs to find a way to get more goals out of the players available at his disposal.
Only bottom-placed Southampton have scored fewer goals than the Goodison Park outfit in the league this term.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are looking to terminate one player’s contract to facilitate new transfers.
