Everton winter target Ernest Nuamah is said to be "keen" on a move to the Premier League amid links with a move to Goodison Park, according to Sky Sports.

Writing via their online transfer centre blog [16 January, 1:08pm], the broadcaster reported that Nuamah is ready to make a move to the Premier League, with Everton linked with the Lyon winger.

Nuamah was said to have been "close" to making a move to Merseyside in the summer but no move materialised.

Lyon are reportedly happy to let the 12-cap Ghana international forward leave in the coming weeks, with Everton said to have already held talks this month.

Everton to ramp up Ernest Nuamah negotiations?

While the appointment of David Moyes has provided an air of optimism at Goodison Par, that feeling will only last if the Toffees are able to deal well in the winter transfer window. As of yet, that hasn't been the case.

Several reinforcements are needed, with the priority coming in the form of those capable of contributing in the final third, and Nuamah would be an excellent start to that.

His pace and trickery out wide is something that has been missing all season, with Iliman Ndiaye the only player capable of showcasing similar attributes.

That, added to the fact that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now failed to score in any of his last 16 appearances, is a major concern and one that needs to be addressed.

Of course, the prospect of relegation is still looming for the Toffees and an inability to strengthen the squad could see them succumb to that.
