Everton in Milan van Ewijk chase as Coventry City transfer news emerges
Everton have been interested in signing Milan van Ewijk from Coventry City, according to ESPN Netherlands.
The broadcaster reported via their live transfer blog on 16 January that the right-back has popped up on Fulham’s radar as Marco Silva’s side look to strengthen their defence following Kenny Tete’s injury.
AS Roma have also been previously interested in the Dutchman, although they are focusing on signing Ajax’s Devyne Rensch, who has also been linked with a move to Goodison Park [Algemeen Dagblad].
David Moyes to buy a right-back at Everton?
On paper, the Toffees are stacked in the right-back position as they have Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson in their ranks.
However, with Young and Coleman in their late 30s and Patterson seemingly out of favour, it is not a surprise that the Goodison Park outfit are targeting a new full-back.
At 24 years of age, Ewijk, who has started in each of Coventry’s 26 Championship games this season, would fit the bill.
But, Everton must strengthen other areas of the pitch first in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Goalscoring has emerged as a major problem for the Merseyside-based club, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin managing just two goals in 20 league appearances, meaning that is an area they need to strengthen.

Likewise, Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison’s performances this season have left much to be desired, thus increasing the Blues’ need for a new attacker.
Right-back, though, is not a position that needs to be urgently strengthened.
