Jamie Carragher speculates what TFG did before Dyche sack at Everton
Jamie Carragher has the Friedkin Group would have held a discussion with Sean Dyche about the fact he couldn’t take Everton any further rather just firing him out of the blue.
The Englishman lost his job at Goodison Park on 9 January after two years which saw him avoid relegation from the Premier League against the odds.
The 53-year-old departed Merseyside without thanks from the Toffees but Carragher assumed on the Stick to Football podcast (16 January) that the ex-Burnley boss was not necessarily sacked but that a mutual decision was made after talks between the two parties.
He said: “I don’t think that Dyche was actually sacked, I think after the Bournemouth game he spoke to the owners, this is what has been fed out by the local press, that it was a case of ‘I can’t take this any further’ type of thing.
“I don’t think the owners came in and went ‘Right, you’re going’. There was a discussion between the two.”

It did come as a surprise to see the former Watford manager be sacked so close to the FA Cup clash against Peterborough United.
This might be explained by Dyche going to the owners at Goodison to suggest that he can’t do any more with this current squad.
The Friedkins probably thought they were best off pulling the sack trigger after this admission rather than him sticking around for no reason.
If the Englishman made this statement to the Goodison hierarchy then the end was already near and this may prove to be the right decision.

With David Moyes coming in, it could represent a boost for the Toffees across the second half of the season in terms of stability.
It will be interesting to see how the Scot gets on in his return to Merseyside especially so soon after Dyche moved on, potentially of his own accord in January.
