Carragher and Neville disagree as Everton v Tottenham prediction made

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have disagreed over whether Everton have the ability to beat Tottenham.

The Blues prepare to welcome Spurs to Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January) as David Moyes looks to pick up his first points since returning to Everton.

Despite sitting above Everton in the table, the Lilywhites come into this game in poor form with pressure mounting on Ange Postecoglou meaning it could be a tight affair.

Looking ahead to the game on The Stick to Football podcast (16 January, 55:32), Carragher predicted a draw as he said: “That’s got 1-1. Moyes is not losing his, oh it’s his second game actually isn’t it?

“That’s got 1-1 written all over it. I bet that game’s been 1-1 loads of times.

“Just feels like a 1-1 game that.”

However, Neville has backed the Toffees to get a result as he countered by saying: “I think Everton could win it. It’ll be one of those stupid Everton games and they’ll win it.”

Everton prepare for Tottenham game

Although Moyes would have hoped for a better result than a 1-0 loss against Aston Villa on Wednesday (15 January), the performance will have highlighted what the boss needs to add to his squad during the transfer window.

Coming into this game, their opponents are in poor form which may give the Blues a boost coming into this game with the pressure on the shoulders of the opposition manager more than that on the Toffees boss.

The Merseyside outfit have shown their ability to defend well this term which will serve them well against a Spurs side who like to push forward.

However, for Everton to prove Neville right and pick up all three points, they will have to find goals in their squad immediately as this is where the team is seriously lacking and where the 61-year-old will put his focus over the transfer window.

Nevertheless, neither pundit has predicted the Blues to lose and any point is better than none when fighting against a place in the relegation zone.
