Pickford green lights new Everton appointment after private chat with Moyes
Jordan Pickford is said to have given the green light to the promotion of David Lucas as a first-team coach at Everton, according to Joe Thomas.
Thomas, reporting via the Liverpool Echo [18 January], claims that Lucas is due to be promoted to the backroom staff of David Moyes with him currently the head of academy goalkeeping.
Moyes has already outlined his plans to bring in his own backroom staff and the promotion of Lucas would align with that.
Pickford is believed to have held talks with Moyes over the decision and has given the Scotsman the green light.
Everton set for backroom staff overhaul
While the appointment of Moyes was a step in the right direction, the appointments that followed are arguably just as crucial.
Very rarely can a manager achieve success to their full potential without having a say in who they will be working alongside.
The fact that Pickford has also been involved with the decision bodes well for the Toffees with it seemingly appearing as a team effort to get the club heading in the right direction.

It is vital that everyone is on the same wavelength, especially given the size of the job Moyes has on his hands after the mess left by Sean Dyche and his staff.
Of course, Lucas had a successful career of his own, having actually played under Moyes at Preston North End and his goalkeeping know-how will do nothing but aid Pickford who has already established himself as one of the best in the country.
