Everton set for multi-million cash windfall, funds to bring in new signings
Everton will receive a windfall towards potential new signings if Leicester City sell striker Tom Cannon during the winter transfer window, according to the Sunday People.
On page 47 of Sunday’s edition (19 January), David Anderson’s report details how the Toffees will be in line for a 25 per cent sell-on fee should Cannon depart Leicester in the coming weeks, having sold the Foxes the forward in 2023 for £7million.
Cannon scored 11 goals in 25 appearances on loan at Stoke City during the first half of this season, before being recalled to the King Power Stadium ahead of a potential permanent sale.
Promotion-hunting Championship duo Sheffield United, Sunderland and Burnley all want Cannon, with the former two clubs having each made an approach.
The Blades have offered a £10million fee to take Cannon from Leicester now – banking Everton £2.5m – while Sunderland are willing to pay £13m, but only as an obligation to buy if the Black Cats are promoted following an initial loan.
Everton set to receive boost from Cannon sale at Leicester
Everton are in line for a tidy boost should Cannon leave Leicester as expected during this window, though if the 22-year-old departs the King Power on a loan-to-buy deal, this bonus would be delayed.
David Moyes and the recruitment staff ought to do with the extra cash, with the attack a huge priority during the current window.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has endured a barren run of two goals in 20 league games; Armando Broja has suffered with constant injuries and Beto has hardly been prolific. Broja is also on loan, while the other two are heavily linked with departures.

A sell-on income of around £2-3m will not blow houses down in the top-flight transfer market, but can at least pacify the PSR fears and be thrown in towards a bid for a striker who represents an improvement on what the Toffees have currently at their disposal.
Sunday (19 January) provides Moyes an interesting test going forward against a Tottenham side renowned for conceding plenty of chances.
