Beto exit: £17m transfer twist emerges from Everton

Torino are hoping to secure a discount to pry Beto away from Everton in the winter transfer window, according to Tutto Mercato.

The Italian news outlet reported on Monday (20 January) that the reported £17million asking price is deemed too high for Torino to pay for Beto, who they are said to be obsessed with [Tuttosport].

Beto appears to favour a return to Italy, thus ending his Goodison Park nightmare, and while negotiations between the sides will continue, the Blues must lower their demands to get the deal over the line [Sunday People].

Torino still want Beto despite Everton “monster” demands

Kevin Thelwell is playing with fire at Everton.

Beto has scored four Premier League goals since arriving from Udinese in 2023, and yet the interest in his services is fierce.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio (14 January), Como have emerged as another potential suitor for the forward and could challenge Torino for his signature after securing the signing of ex-Everton man Dele Alli.

The Toffees’ reported “monster demands” to sanction a sale during the winter transfer window prove a major stumbling block in a potential sale [Tuttomercatoweb].

Yes, it is wise for Everton to recoup as much of the £27m outlay spent on his services as possible, but the Merseyside outfit should be grateful interest in the forward exists. Instead of bargaining for unrealistic demands, they should agree to a deal as soon as possible.

David Moyes will be encouraged by what he saw in the 3-2 win against Tottenham on Sunday (19 January), but the Blues are still one of the lowest-scoring sides in the top division.

With finances still sparse, he will need to sell-to-buy to improve the squad before the window slams shut on 3 February, and if selling Beto will allow the boss to do so, what is the point in haggling for a player who has no future at Goodison Park?

In other Everton news, Stuart Pearce reveals David Moyes was “livid” after what he saw in the Blues win against Tottenham.
