Everton forward Beto is open to a return to Italy as a Torino chief looks to hold face-to-face talks, according to the Sunday People.

The newspaper reported on 19 January (page 47) that the Serie A side's sporting director Davide Vagnati has identified the 26-year-old as a key transfer target this winter.

The Guinea-Bissau international is interested in a move to Italy after his spell with Udinese before moving to Goodison Park in August 2023.

Torino are keen on an initial loan deal for the £48,000-a-week forward [Liverpool Echo] which would also include an option to make the deal permanent.

Beto wants to quit Everton amid Torino interest

There is no doubt that the ex-Portimonense forward has had a tough time on Merseyside since signing in a sizable deal worth £30m [BBC Sport].

For the finances involved in the move, the striker has failed to make a positive impact, regularly finding himself playing second fiddle to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Despite the Englishman being very hit-and-miss in front of goal, Sean Dyche and now David Moyes have still chosen him ahead of the Guinea-Bissau national.

As a result, a move away from Goodison could prove to make sense for all parties in January regardless of a frustrating injury blow for Armando Broja.

There is strong interest from Torino who clearly see something in Beto, despite him netting just one Premier League goal so far this season.

An issue may arise with the structure of any potential deal given that a six-month loan doesn't necessarily help the Toffees to fund a replacement before the end of the window.

With that being said, it will be interesting to see if Moyes will let him go this winter, especially if these talks are held with Torino.
