Darren Bent forced to eat his words after Everton comments live on Sky Sports

Darren Bent highlighted the attacking woes at Everton as a potential “recipe for disaster” prior to their 3-2 victory against Spurs and he will be forced to eat his own words.

David Moyes secured his first Premier League win at Everton since returning to the club with a 3-2 victory over Tottenham on Sunday afternoon (19 January).

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was back on the scoresheet for the Toffees and he made Bent look silly with his comments prior to the game.

Speaking ahead of the clash on Sky Sports Premier League [19 January], Bent claimed that the lack of goals at Goodison Park was a major cause for concern, while stating that the Toffees “look apprehensive in front of goal”.

While that has been the tale for a large part of the season, it certainly makes Bent look silly given the scoreline that followed.

David Moyes influence already felt at Everton

There are still improvements to be made at Goodison Park but there are some very promising signs emerging since the reappointment of Moyes on Merseyside.

Everton already look like a side with a game plan under his stewardship, something which was simply non-existent when Sean Dyche was in charge.

Players appear to have more freedom and seem to have a clear understanding as to what their role in the team is and how they’re expected to go about it.

Although Tottenham are going through a wretched season of their own, a 3-2 victory was a real statement from the Toffees and will provide them with some serious momentum going forward.

Ultimately, the main aim this season will be to avoid relegation, and given the improvements that have already been seen under the Scotsman, Everton look well on their way to achieving that.

In other Everton news, this Toffees ace has surely saved himself on Merseyside after what he did against Tottenham.
