Everton set for windfall after £10m agreement – Alan Myers

Everton are set to pocket a six-figure windfall after Sheffield United reached an agreement to sign Tom Cannon from Leicester City, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports news editor reported on 20 January that Sheffield United agreed a £10million deal with Leicester City for Tom Cannon.

As the Toffees had a 20 per cent sell-on clause on the profit, they will pocket £500,000 from the deal.

Via X, Myers wrote: “It’ll be 20% of around £2.5M so it won’t be £2M.”

Everton must become better sellers under The Friedkin Group

While £500k might seem like a significant amount, in the context of the Toffees’ financial situation, it’s relatively modest.

The club, facing financial constraints and the need for substantial investment in the squad and infrastructure, finds such a sum more of a minor boost than a game-changer.

However, this windfall from the sell-on clause of Cannon’s transfer to Sheffield United via Leicester is still a welcome income, providing some financial relief.

Under The Friedkin Group, which is crucial for the club’s future prosperity, the club must enhance their strategy in player sales.

This includes not only selling players more effectively but also negotiating better sell-on clauses to ensure that future transfers yield higher returns.

Improving these aspects of their transfer dealings could significantly contribute to financial stability and support the club’s ambitions on and off the pitch.
