Sean Dyche shock emerges as ‘perfect’ Everton manager shunned at Goodison
Sean Dyche was the “perfect” manager for Everton considering the situation they are in, according to Lee Sharpe.
Assessing the Toffees’ current condition, the Manchester United great expressed his surprise at seeing Dyche being sacked earlier this month.
He is of the view that David Moyes has a “huge” task on his hands to keep the Merseyside-based club in the Premier League as he has not been in a relegation battle in “a while”.
“I think it’s a huge job [for David Moyes]”, Sharpe said on Stadium Astro (19 January).
“I’m very surprised that they sacked Sean Dyche. I think the position they are in, Sean Dyche was probably the perfect manager for the job.
“I think it has been a while since David Moyes has managed a team down the bottom half of the table since being at West Ham and previously Everton.
“So, a very, very tough job for him.”
Lee Sharpe wrong about Sean Dyche claim at Everton
Dyche was only one of three English managers in the Premier League at the start of the season, so the sympathy towards him is understandable.
The 53-year-old also has a reputation as a relegation speciality and, to be fair to him, has done it at Goodison Park.
However, The Friedkin Group cannot be blamed for pulling the plug on the former Burnley manager as the club were placed 16th in the table at the time of his sacking.
Two games into Moyes’ tenure, the Merseyside-based club are still 16th, but are the only team in the bottom five to pick up a win in that period.
Everton are four points above 18th-placed Ipswich Town and can extend the gap to seven points if they win their game in hand, although the fixture is against arch-rivals and table-toppers Liverpool.

It is also worth noting that Dyche had seemingly downed his tools in the final weeks before his exit.
