Richarlison transfer: ‘Daniel Levy issues’ arise for Everton move already

Daniel Levy will not let Richarlison join Everton in the winter transfer window, The Esk says.

The Toffees’ forensic analyst would love to have the Tottenham striker back in Merseyside but believes the Spurs chief will block any potential approach.

As things stand, the North London outfit are just four points ahead of the Blues in the Premier League after being beaten 3-2 at Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January).

Speaking on Talking the Blues podcast (21 January), the Esk said: “As much as I would love that to happen, the fact that Spurs are only four points ahead of us in the league suggests that Levy is not going to allow us to have that competitive advantage against them.”

Everton long for Richarlison transfer

David Moyes is tasked with avoiding relegation at the Toffees after taking over from Sean Dyche, who was sacked after reaching the end of the line.

Supporters will hope the Scottish manager, who spent 12 years at the Blues during his previous stint, can get the best out of the current squad.

While Dyche failed, there was an acknowledgement that more quality players were needed, and Moyes will arguably be looking for reinforcements before 3 February.

Everton have relied on Dominic Calvert-Lewin for most of the campaign, and despite his goal against Ange Postecoglou’s team, the England international has been underwhelming for the most part.

Richarlison, Everton
Richarlison is a loved figure at Everton

Beto is another number nine who the Scotsman seemingly can’t rely on, considering his lack of impact since moving from Udinese in the summer of 2023.

Armando Broja is out with another injury, and there is an evident need for more bodies up front, as highlighted by the lack of goals at the Merseyside outfit.

Richarlison looks like the perfect solution to the Blues’ current problems, and the Goodison faithful will undoubtedly embrace his return with both arms.

The thought of the 27-year-old being signed feels ideal, but it looks unlikely to happen anytime soon.

In other Everton news, Kevin Thelwell has been urged to get to work as Moyes looks for reinforcements.
