Everton transfer stance emerges on Breel Embolo and Marcus Edwards

Everton are not planning moves for Marcus Edwards and Breel Embolo, according to Chris Beesley.

The Liverpool Echo reporter made the claims on the newspaper’s online edition on Wednesday (22 January) after reports emerged linking the Blues with the duo.

Reports claimed that the Toffees were interested in Embolo [TBR] and Edwards [Jac Talbot] as David Moyes looks to bolster his attack.

However, the report dismisses the chance of those transfers, saying: “Moyes and director of football Kevin Thelwell are looking elsewhere as the ECHO understands that Everton have no interest in either Edwards or Embolo.”

Everton need attacking reinforcements

While moves for the duo may not be on the cards, the Blues are desperate for some kind of attacking recruits with Moyes’ side struggling to score goals.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his first goal since September 14 with his strike in the 3-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday (19 January).

Meanwhile, Guinea-Bissau forward Beto has not scored since the 1-1 draw with Fulham on 26 October, his only Premier League goal of the campaign.

If the Toffees are to avoid relegation they need to add another striker in the winter transfer window, otherwise Moyes will struggle to drag his side to safety.

They are currently four points clear of the drop zone but could be in trouble with a bad result against Brighton on 25 January, depending on other results.

Moyes needs to be given the personnel to succeed or the final season at Goodison Park could be a calamitous one.
