Beto exit: Everton transfer news as Serie A club loan-to-buy update emerges

Roma are now eyeing up Everton striker Beto as an “alternative” option to lead their attacking line, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian outlet reported via their print edition (23 January, page 19) that the Giallorossiw ould be looking at the number nine as a different target to Napoli striker Giacomo Raspadori, who they wanted to sign on a loan-to-buy deal.

However, the report adds that the Partenopei aren’t all that keen on a loan-to-buy and would rather go for a “safer” formula and sell the Italian, which is why Beto’s name has now cropped again up as a potential target for Roma, who are also owned by the Friedkin Group.

Everton cannot allow Beto to leave Goodison Park

Now that Armando Broja is out injured once again, it feels like David Moyes would be shooting himself in the foot if he allowed the £48,000-a-week man (Liverpool Echo) to exit Goodison Park before the summer.

While it would bring in some extra funding for the Toffees to try and recruit some new faces, it would leave them with just one fit striker among their ranks in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Indeed, the Englishman may have had a good game against Tottenham last time out, but, his unreliability and lack of composure across the season so far make it difficult to see how the Merseyside outfit could solely rely on the striker to be their focal point.

Granted, Beto’s form hasn’t been all that great either with both of the number nines falling well below expectations this season

However, as they’re the only two natural options to lead the Scotsman’s attacking line at the moment, it feels essential that he stays in Merseyside, until at least the end of the season.
