Elias Jelert ‘to pass medical’ as Everton bid update emerges

Galatasaray full-back Elias Jelert should pass his Everton medical if needed in spite of his erratic game time, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that while he would clear the pre-transfer checks, it may be something the club would need to consider in terms of his match fitness and rhythm.

Takvim reported on 2 January that the Toffees are considering making a bid for the 21-year-old right-back who’s valued at £7.5million.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Jelert: “His game time has been very erratic with very few starts this season.

While it won’t be an issue for his medical as there haven’t been significant injuries, it would be something to consider in terms of his runway for getting up to match fitness and rhythm.

This is something any club buying him will have to take into consideration.

Everton need to sign a new right-back imminently

Ashley Young is 39 and he cannot be the first-choice right-back any longer so it makes sense to sign a new right-back.

Jelert at 21 is a good long-term option and if Kevin Thelwell and co. are convinced that he’s the right man, then by all means, The Friedkin Group must sanction a move for him.

Seamus Coleman is also ageing and facing fitness issues so a new right-back needs to be on the agenda.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have submitted a bid to secure the services of a “wonderful” winger in January.
