Everton ‘in major boost’ as midfielder spotted at Finch Farm today
Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has been spotted training at Finch Farm ahead of his return to first-team action.
The Toffees have been without Iroegbunam for three months, having sustained an injury in October, but a post from Everton’s X account [23 January] showed the midfielder in training.
It’s unlikely that he will be fully match fit in the immediate future, but the very fact he is back in training is a massive boost for the Merseysiders, who have had some unfortunate luck with injuries this season.
Everton prepare to face Brighton on Saturday (25 January) with a slim chance that Iroegbunam could be named in the matchday squad.
David Moyes will welcome Iroegbunam return at Everton
Ultimately, if Moyes is to continue to have a positive effect at Goodison Park, the ability to select from a fully-fit squad will be paramount and the more players that return from injury, the easier the job becomes for him.
The Scotsman has already had a positive influence both on and off the pitch and the return of his midfielder will only aid his attempts to get the Toffees heading back in the right direction.
With James Garner another long-term absentee, Moyes has had his hand somewhat forced when it has come to his team selection, especially in midfield, and Iroegbunam’s return will alleviate some of those concerns and allow for rotation.

As things stand, the Toffees sit just four points above the drop zone with the same gap present on Tottenham just one place above them.
It is crucial that Everton can use the momentum from their victory against Spurs to get themselves on a winning run to steer clear of the bottom three.
In other Everton news, the Toffees had shown an interest in this Arsenal player who could be set for a return to his homeland.
