TFG ‘promise’ to David Moyes revealed as clock ticks at Everton
Everton will have had to promise David Moyes financial backing in the transfer window to secure his return, according to Ian Darke.
The TV commentator – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes with the Toffees’ need to strengthen within the final 10 days of the winter transfer window, Moyes will have been guaranteed funds by Dan Friedkin in the market.
Everton have a list of targets and could also lose players in the coming days, but there are yet to have been any arrivals nor departures confirmed.
“They have to make reinforcements,” Darke affirmed.
“I think when they approached David Moyes and offered him the job, that must have come with a promise that there will be funds available in the transfer window.”
Everton chasing targets as players’ contracts expiring
Everton remain in the market for key assets to bolster the squad and ensure survival for this summer’s stadium move, but have so far drawn a blank and continue to battle for signings.
Eight first-team players see their current contracts expire in 2025, along with four loanees with whom it is unsure what will happen come the end of the season.

The Merseysiders sit 16th in the Premier League and now focus on Saturday’s tricky trip to Brighton (25 January).
