Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury: ‘Huge’ Everton news shared live on Sky Sports

Dominic Calvert-Lewin picked up a hamstring injury as Everton face Brighton in the Premier League, Clinton Morrison says.

The ex-Irish forward labelled the 27-year-old’s injury in the first half a “huge blow” for the Toffees as they face the Seagulls at Amex on Saturday (25 January).

In the 11th minute, the England international went down with a knock after jumping for a challenge with Joel Veltman and was replaced by Beto.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (25 January, 15:14), Morrison said: “Calvert-Lewin has picked up a hamstring injury, which is a huge blow for him and Everton. He just went up for a header, and he could feel it. Beto has come on.”

A positive result at Amex Stadium will go a long way for the Merseyside outfit in their bid to avoid relegation from the English top flight as David Moyes’ team lead at the break after Iliman Ndiaye’s penalty in the 41st minute.

David Moyes’ arrival has seen some good changes in the team in recent fixtures, with the Toffees getting the three points against Tottenham on 19 January.

The English manager was able to bring the best out of the Blues’ attack against Spurs, but Brighton have controlled the game for the most part in the opening 45 minutes.

Everton started with Calvert-Lewin once again after his goal against Tottenham, unfortunately, the England international had to be taken off after picking up a knock early in the first half.

Three points against Fabian Hurzeler’s team would go a long way in securing the Blues’ place in the Premier League for next season.

The English forward’s injury will definitely be a massive blow to the Merseysiders as they look to get the better of Brighton’s defence in the second half.

Will Beto be able to have the necessary impact after the break and add to the 1-0 scoreline?
