Everton officials targeted in win v Brighton, ’embarrassing’
Everton officials were targeted by Brighton supporters after the 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon, according to Joe Thomas.
The home fans at the AMEX Stadium shouted to Blues staff after the final whistle on 25 January labelling the club as “embarrassing.”
They also sarcastically asked if they “have to watch that every week?” as tensions boiled over following a contentious penalty decision.
That penalty was scored by Iliman Ndiaye and was the only goal of the contest as the Toffees secured a second victory in as many games in the Premier League.
Thomas wrote on X: “Brighton fans far from happy on the final whistle. ‘Embarrassing’ and ‘You have to watch that every week?’ among the shouts directed at Everton staff in the press box.
“Bit surprised by the reaction. A solid display from the away end and the penalty was pretty clear.”
Everton will not care after big win
David Moyes will not care about how his side secured victory on the south coast just that they did.
It has been a great week for the Scotsman after his side followed up a 3-2 victory against Tottenham last weekend (19 January) with another win this weekend.
The officials that were subjected to the chants will probably not care either after a momentous week for the Merseyside club in the battle for top-flight survival.

The Blues are now 16th in the Premier League, seven points above the relegation zone after those two successive victories.
Local rivals Liverpool gave them a helping hand as they swept 18th-placed Ipswich aside at Anfield to ease the Toffees’ struggles towards the bottom.
Former FIFA referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Goodison News that the Seagulls could be in trouble after showing a replay of the incident in the stadium, which is against Premier League protocol.
In other Everton news, Paul Merson has hit back at claims Tim Sherwood made about the club on Sky Sports.
