David Moyes lauds Sean Dyche in brand new Everton admission

David Moyes has praised Sean Dyche for the foundations he laid at Everton before his sacking at Goodison Park.

Since taking charge of the Toffees for a second time, Moyes has overseen a huge improvement in both performances and results and the Scotsman has praised Dyche for the work he left behind.

While the Merseysiders struggled in various aspects under Dyche, they were resolute at the back, leaving Moyes with a clear foundation to work from and speaking on Match of the Day [25 January], he was eager to acknowledge that.

After their 1-0 away victory against Brighton, in quotes reported by BBC Sport, the Toffees boss said: “I have got to say [Sean Dyche] left an awful lot of good things at this football club.

“Resilience, being hard to beat, tough, they had all that. We are now just trying to add a little bit more. Can we make some more chances? Can we get some more goals? Add those sorts of things to the game.”

David Moyes can spearhead Everton revival

While their 1-0 victory against Brighton wasn’t a vintage performance, it was an effective one that saw the Toffees come away with all three points which under Dyche, likely wouldn’t have happened.

Everton were getting into better areas in the opposition half while looking far more clued up when in transition which will be crucial in games of such a tightly contested nature.

Of course, there’s still plenty of work to do both on and off the pitch for the Merseysiders with some crucial transfer business still needed at Goodison Park if they are to keep progressing.

As things stand in the Premier League table, Everton have a seven-point gap on the bottom three, which is ultimately the main goal this season, just avoid the drop.

If that can be achieved, Everton can put these few seasons of failure behind them and start building towards a brighter future with Moyes.
