David Moyes tells Gary Lineker what he’s being told at Everton on MOTD

David Moyes has revealed what he’s heard at Everton to Gary Lineker after the Brighton win.

The Toffees secured a 1-0 win away at the Amex on 25 January thanks to an Iliman Ndiaye penalty after a controversial Joel Veltman handball.

The away side went on to secure three points just six days after beating Tottenham 3-2 at Goodison Park.

After the win against the Seagulls, Moyes spoke to Lineker on Match of the Day (25 January) and revealed he was told this was the first back-to-back wins of the year, five months into the campaign.

He said: “I’m getting told that it’s the first back-to-back wins this season. So for us to put that in place for the supporters, Everton has always been incredibly special to me.”

It says a lot about Sean Dyche’s spell in L4 this season that two wins in a row weren’t secured once between August and January.

This isn’t to say that the former Burnley man deserved to be sacked but it has taken his replacement just three games to secure back-to-back wins.

The victory against Spurs was excellent and despite conceding two second-half goals, the Toffees easily deserved the win.

It was certainly more hard-fought against Brighton with Fabian Hurzeler’s side having the better of the play, particularly in the second half.

The Toffees were solid defensively and kept the attacking talents of the Seagulls out for 90 minutes which is no mean feat.

This secured an achievement that supporters have been waiting for at Goodison for many months which could represent a turning point in the season.

Moyes has already had a positive impact on his new side and will be hopeful of maintaining a positive run of form on Merseyside as the season moves forward.
