Ernest Nuamah to Everton: ‘Win-win’ mooted as Lyon star urged to join Toffees

Nana Akwasi Asare has told Ernest Nuamah to join Everton after being linked with a move to Goodison Park before 3 February.

The Lyon winger was heavily linked with a summer transfer, and with the 21-year-old now being the subject of interest by the Merseysiders once again [Fabrizio Romano], his name has cropped up again.

However, after previously being reported to be closing in on a deal, Goodison News understands that is far from the truth as David Moyes looks for a new forward signing before the window slams shut.

A former Ghanaian international player clearly believes a move would be good for him, though.

Speaking to AfricaFoot [25 January], Asare said: “With Lyon’s current financial struggles, they could use the money from Nuamah’s sale to Everton, if the player is interested in the project at Everton, with David Moyes now in charge.

“A new environment could allow Nuamah to return to his best level, which we lacked during his time at Lyon. If he made the move to Everton, who have been chasing his signing for months, it would be a very good choice.

“Everton lack quality strikers and this has been the case in recent seasons. With Nuamah, they would have a good player with huge potential. So for me, it would be a win-win situation for all parties involved if that happened.”

Ernest Nuamah to finally strike Everton transfer?

Considering Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury, a move for the 21-year-old could certainly be a suitable signing before the transfer window slams shut.

Of course, an out-and-out No.9 would be the ideal transfer, but with just a number of days left before the window closes, it might be worth getting a deal done quickly and then assessing the situation.

While Nuamah only has one goal to his name this season, he proved last season just how talented he is, and exactly why he has earned 16 caps with the Ghana national team.

He also did more than enough to earn his move to Ligue 1, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances for Nordsjaelland between 2021 and 2023, and David Moyes would be working towards unlocking that player.

Iliman Ndiaye has been an incredible addition to the squad, making the left flank his own this season, but neither Jack Harrison nor Jesper Lindstrom have done anything to impress on the opposite wing.

Therefore, Nuamah could walk straight into the starting XI if a deal were to struck before 3 February, but time is running out for the Toffees to get business done.
