Everton make transfer offer as £5.61m Angelo Preciado update emerges

Everton made an offer for Sparta Prague midfielder Angelo Preciado but it was turned down, according to Bolavip.

Turkish media outlet Sporx cited Bolavip on 25 January claiming that the Czech side will part ways with the Ecuador international for a £5.61million fee.

Despite being a right-sided midfielder, the 26-year-old is also capable of playing as a right-back.

Everton likely want Angelo Preciado to be their right-back

The Toffees’ pursuit of Preciado seems driven by the need to bolster their right-back position, given the current challenges with their existing options.

Seamus Coleman, at 36, has been plagued by age-related fitness issues, significantly reducing his reliability on the pitch.

Ashley Young, who will turn 40 this year, is also past his prime, suggesting his days as a first-choice full-back are numbered.

Meanwhile, Nathan Patterson, although a long-term prospect, has shown inconsistency in his performances, making him less than a guaranteed solution.

Preciado, while naturally a right-sided midfielder, offers the versatility to play as a right-back, bringing much-needed dynamism and defensive solidity to Everton’s backline.

His potential acquisition for a fee of £5.61 million represents a strategic move to address these immediate concerns at right-back, ensuring depth and competition, which could inspire better performances from all players in that position.

In other Everton news, a transfer claim has emerged as the Toffees have made an approach to sign a £12m-rated defender.
