TFG promise to David Moyes emerges as Everton transfer clock ticks away – Darke

Everton do not have enough firepower and will falter if the transfer window is not addressed between David Moyes and the board, according to Ian Darke.

The TV commentator, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, has credited the reappointment of Moyes earlier this month and results of late have seen a marked improvement.

However, Darke has compared the present day to the forward options the Toffees’ returning manager had in a bygone era at Goodison.

“I think it’s a good fit and was a sensible decision to bring him back. The first time he was there, finishing in the top eight or nine, they had more firepower with the likes of Tim Cahill, Big Duncan Ferguson and Kevin Campbell,” he said.

“You can change the manager, but that doesn’t necessarily mean long-term problems do disappear. I can see them making reinforcements because they have to, and like I’ve said, Moyes will surely have taken the job on the condition of backing from the new owners.”

Everton improving under David Moyes as time ticks on window

Everton have enjoyed back-to-back wins under the stewardship of Moyes, who secured an impressive three points at Brighton on Saturday (25 January) after victory over Tottenham (19 January).

Six days remain of the transfer window in which there remains pressure from supporters to add more firepower to the squad, with strikers needed in a team that have produced just 19 goals this season in the league, bettering only bottom side Southampton (18).
