Willian to Everton: Moyes ‘wants Brazilian at Goodison’ as agents fly in
Alex Crook believes David Moyes “would fancy” signing Willian for Everton before the winter transfer window closes on 3 February.
The Blues have opened talks with the Brazilian’s representatives regarding a potential move [UOL] as Willian eyes a Premier League return.
Crook discussed the ongoing transfer speculation on the talkSPORT Transfer Notebook podcast (27 January, 7m 12s) and believes Moyes will be interested in bringing Willian to Goodison Park after his services were offered to the Toffees.
He said: “Willian, his agents have arrived in London to try and find him a Premier League club.
“I know that he’s been offered to Everton, and he might just be the type of player that David Moyes would fancy to pep up their attack.”
David Moyes should sign Willian for Everton
The attacking options at Goodison Park were already scarce, and now they are down to the bare bones after the 1-0 win against Brighton on Saturday (25 January).
A fresh injury setback to Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaves Beto the only senior option available to lead the line in the “worst possible outcome” for the Toffees, according to Ian Croll.
The Liverpool Echo reporter is right on the nose – with what would recently have been a relegation six-pointer against Leicester City up next, followed by the rescheduled Merseyside derby and an FA Cup fourth-round tie with Bournemouth, the next few weeks will be pivotal for Moyes.
In an ideal world, 36-year-old Willian would not step foot anywhere near Goodison Park, albeit the Brazilian still has a lot to offer.

He remained a consistent top-flight performer during his spell at Fulham, recording 10 goals and seven assists in 67 appearances across all competitions, including a goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield last term.
The Blues may have cracked the formula in front of goal recently, but the injuries threaten to send Moyes back to square one – Willian’s creativity could be the difference between survival and relegation.
A short-term deal until the end of the season for a Premier League winner would be a win-win situation for Everton.
