Alan Myers reveals more ‘bad news’ at Everton in transfer update
Everton are not close to unveiling any signings at Goodison Park as the final three days beckon of the transfer window, according to Alan Myers.
The reporter and Toffees insider took to X (30 January) to respond to supporter @Hemms10, asking whether any incomings were close on the blue half of Merseyside.
The mood has lifted around Goodison of late following the return of David Moyes and back-to-back Premier League wins, but there have still yet to be any new faces walk through the door with the deadline fast approaching on Monday (3 February).
After the supporter asked (30 January): “Any news on fresh faces, Alan? Is it looking likely we will get anyone in?”, Myers responded: “I’m not aware of anything right now.”
Everton fans hoping for transfer surprise after ‘bad news’
Following Myers’ response to the fan on X, they then added that it is “bad news” the Toffees do not appear immediately close to adding to the squad.
While Everton’s form has improved under Moyes and an understanding is slowly being built throughout the squad, one can’t help but feel strengthening of the squad must be done to fully establish survival.
It goes without saying how utterly integral it is that the Toffees are a Premier League club come the summer – we’ve all discussed it to the back teeth – but fans will remain anxious over potential improvements to the squad across the next 72 hours.

Moyes is also juggling added injury concerns after Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala both came away crocked from Saturday’s win at Brighton (25 January).
The striker may be out for an unconfirmed period and is doubtful to face Leicester City (1 February), while Mangala is out for the season with a knee ligament injury.
In other Everton news, Romelu Lukaku is the latest to speak up after the “crushing” news that emerged.
