Derby in last-gasp move to sign Everton ace Armstrong – Sky Sports

Everton will sanction a loan exit for Harrison Armstrong as they edge closer to unveiling Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo, according to Sky Sports.

As reported via the news outlet’s Transfer Centre (3 February, 15:28), midfielder Armstrong is now set to be allowed a temporary EFL move for the rest of the season as Alcaraz completes his medical on Merseyside.

Alan Myers posted on X (3 February) shortly afterwards that Armstrong is in talks with Derby County to join the Championship side until the summer to gain experience.

Flamengo had already announced Alcaraz was en route to Goodison Park on Friday (31 August), and the former Southampton and Juventus man will soon be announced as a Toffees player.

Armstrong, 18, is likely to be loaned to the Rams to “continue his development”, having made six senior appearances including three in the Premier League.

Myers shared: “Harrison Armstrong in talks with Derby County over a potential loan move.”

Everton to loan Armstrong to Derby once Alcaraz announced

Everton will have secured an astute exchange by allowing Armstrong to gain Championship experience while securing Alcaraz onboard.

The Argentine attacking midfielder has prior experience in the Premier League having spent a year at Southampton – and despite suffering relegation at St Mary’s showed what can he do.

Alcaraz will be able to add further dynamism to an Everton midfield who appear more free-flowing and creative under David Moyes, the team having scored eight goals in the past three games – over a third of their league season’s total.

The Toffees remain active in the market as Moyes admits PSR constraints have not been ideal for the calibre of players desired at Goodison, but fans will watch with intent the final hours of the market.

Armstrong has flourished in his sporadic first-team chances and a loan to Pride Park could be the ideal kickstart for his career in men’s football.
