Everton done deal: Flamengo officially announces Alcaraz transfer

Everton have completed a deal to sign midfielder Carlos Alcaraz on loan from Flamengo, the Brazilian club have confirmed.

Flamengo announced the deal on their official website (31 January), which takes Alcaraz to Goodison Park on a loan which will become permanent (Fabrizio Romano, 31 January) should pre-agreed conditions be met.

David Moyes welcomes his first signing since returning to the Toffees and it is also the first deal completed of the winter window on the blue half of Merseyside.

Flamengo stated: "Clube de Regatas do Flamengo announces that it has reached an agreement for the loan transfer of athlete Carlos Alcaraz to Everton, England.

"The contract includes a mandatory purchase clause subject to the fulfilment of goals established between the parties."

Carlos Alcaraz - also known as 'Charly' if a certain Spanish tennis star mixes your thinking - and Flamengo have now announced formally that he has arrived at Goodison Park.

The deal provides Moyes with another option and also sees the 22-year-old return to the Premier League, having spent a year with Southampton playing in each of the top two divisions in England.

Everton will be eager to add to the loan deal for the Argentina Under-23 ace, with several targets on the list of the board and Moyes.

The manager has admitted PSR constraints are limiting what the Toffees can do in the current window, which now has 72 hours left to run before the final business is considered complete ahead of the final Goodison games.

Alcaraz has also spent a short stint with Juventus, where he played 12 times, and leaves Flamengo just five months into a deal which ran until 2029. While he arrives on loan, the obligation to buy is expected to be fulfilled with the conditions for such usually straightforward to reach.
