Everton in last-ditch talks to sign Arthur Cabral in late transfer news

Everton are in talks to seal a last-ditch deal for Benfica striker Arthur Cabral, according to Everton News.

The report (3 February) claims that the Blues are attempting to secure a move for the 26-year-old before the 11 pm deadline.

The Brazilian forward was on West Ham’s shortlist before they sealed a loan deal for Toffees target Evan Ferguson.

The former Fiorentina ace has notched six goals in 25 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Everton scraping the barrel as the deadline approaches

David Moyes is in desperate need of a striker given the underwhelming returns of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto this campaign.

The duo have six goals between them in the league and two of them came in the 4-0 victory over Leicester on Saturday (1 February).

The need for an attacker has been accelerated by Armando Broja’s injury issues as he is expected to be out for four to five weeks.

The Blues had tried to terminate his loan deal in order to free up a domestic loan spot but could not agree with his parent club Chelsea on a suitable package.

The Goodison Park outfit should be safe from relegation given that they have a nine-point buffer to the relegation zone after winning three consecutive league matches.

However, things can change very quickly in the top flight and another attacking option would give Moyes more reassurance in the second half of the season.
