Everton react as Beto wanted in last-gasp transfer before deadline

Everton don’t want to sell Beto on transfer deadline day amid new interest from Real Betis, according to Mateo Gonzalez.

The ABC de Sevilla journalist revealed on his personal X account (3 February) that the Spanish outfit considered making a move for the 27-year-old striker.

However, the Toffees have closed the doors to the Guinea-Bissau international’s exit due to injuries in the squad.

Everton to keep Beto on transfer deadline day

The Blues would evidently be wise to keep Beto until the end of the season, as he’s the only fit natural striker in the team right now.

David Moyes has a dearth of options up front, and the 27-year-old will seemingly be a key player for the Scotsman in the coming weeks.

The former West Ham United boss looks to have gotten the best out of the Guinea-Bissau centre-forward as he scored a brace in the Merseyside outfit’s 4-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday (1 February).

Everton are without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti, making the availability of Beto even more important for Moyes.

After some positive Premier League results, the Toffees have opened up a considerable gap with the relegation zone, increasing their likelihood of surviving the drop.

Under Sean Dyche, goalscoring was an issue for the Blues, but the Scottish manager has turned things around at Goodison Park.

While Beto has underwhelmed fans since his move from Udinese, they will definitely recognise the need to keep him in the winter window to maintain distance with the drop zone.
