Everton to announce Carlos Alcaraz as late double signing possible – Alan Myers

Everton will announce Carlos Alcaraz’s arrival at Goodison Park “any time now”, according to Alan Myers.

Writing via his personal X account on Monday night (3 February), the Sky Sports News journalist reported that the Blues will formalise the 22-year-old midfielder’s arrival from Flamengo before the 11pm transfer deadline.

Myers adds that he’s been told there’s nothing in reports linking the Toffees with a last-gasp move for West Brom and England Under-21s winger Tom Fellows.

It had been claimed that Everton had a £15million bid for Fellows rejected by the Baggies.

Interestingly, Myers adds that while there’s not long to go before the winter transfer window slams shut, there’s still a possibility that Everton could make a last-ditch loan signing if the opportunity arises.

Everton not signing Tom Fellows – but extra loanee possible

It’ll be a big shock if the Blues sign anyone but Alcaraz in the final hours of the winter transfer window.

While Myers is hinting that another arrival on loan is a possibility, it might mean that some shuffling around will need doing for other loanees.

Jesper Lindstrom, Jack Harrison, Armando Broja and – soon-to-be – Alcaraz will be on loan at Goodison Park but the club cannot have more than four loanees.

Everton could get one of those on a permanent basis or hope that someone elsewhere comes in for a player like Harrison with the Leeds loanee reportedly wanted in a late deal by Fulham.

It’s just too complicated to get something like that done, especially when there are now less than three hours to get deals done.

Alcaraz looks to be a good signing with the Argentine arriving on an initial loan that will more than likely be made permanent in the summer due to an easy-to-meet obligation-to-buy clause.
