Everton to announce deadline-busting deal ‘in the next few hours’
Everton are set to announce the arrival of Carlos Alcaraz on loan from Flamengo “in the next few hours”, according to Eduardo Burgos.
The Diario AS journalist reported via his personal X account on deadline day (3 February) that Alcaraz, 22, is now an Everton player after signing his contract at Goodison Park.
It is understood that the Blues have agreed an initial loan deal with Flamengo that will become permanent in the summer for £16.6million if the Argentinian midfielder plays eight times.
Flamengo signed Alcaraz from Southampton in the summer transfer window for around £15million but reports in Brazil have suggested that the Rio de Janeiro club are cashing in on him now due to him not fitting in with their playing style.

The Merseyside club now just need to announce Alcaraz’s arrival then it’s an official done deal that everyone can be excited about.
Although it hasn’t worked out for the La Plata-born midfielder at the Maracana, he does have experience of playing in England and he did do well at Southampton before he left last year.
Juventus also saw enough in the ex-Racing Club ace to sign him on loan in January 2024. They also agreed a huge option-to-buy clause worth around £41million even though he had been playing in the Championship at that point.

Alcaraz has made 19 Premier League appearances in his career.
One of those came at the start of this season when the midfielder played in a defeat against Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Despite the fact he’s played for Southampton and Flamengo in this British season doesn’t seem to have an impact on the deal because the Brazilian season finished at the end of last year.
