Moyes should ‘knock on TFG door’ to sign Premier League ace likened to ‘Ronaldo’

David Moyes must convince The Friedkin Group to sign a Premier League forward who has drawn comparisons to Ronaldo.

Carlos Alcaraz arrived at Goodison Park in the final hours on Deadline Day (3 February) after the Blues submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League to complete the signing after the 11pm deadline.

However, ex-Blues scout Bryan King told Goodison News on 5 February that he believes Moyes will be “unhappy” with only one signing arriving on Merseyside.

If that is the case, TFG could provide the boss with the firepower he needs next season, assuming the Toffees retain their Premier League status with a long-standing transfer target who has been tearing through the top flight this term.

Everton should sign Jean Philippe-Mateta

After remaining at Selhurst Park, the 27-year-old scored 16 goals with five assists in 35 Premier League appearances, leading to Rory Smith, a journalist for The Athletic, comparing the forward to the “original Ronaldo” [BBC Sport].

Mateta has continued his stellar form in South London, with 10 Premier League goals thus far this term – he is expected to be a highly sought-after commodity at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail (9 February), several top-flight outfits are monitoring his development ahead of a summer move – Everton should be at the front of the queue.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja on the sidelines at Goodison Park, Moyes’ only senior choice to lead the line is Beto, who reportedly pushed for an exit throughout the winter transfer window, with Serie A outfit Atalanta among those interested.

Beto has, impressed since emerging as the number one forward on Merseyside after netting a brace in the 4-0 win against Leicester City on 1 February.

But, the Guinea-Bisseau international reverted to type on Saturday (8 February) after his costly miss left Moyes shaking his head in the 2-0 loss against Bournemouth in the FA Cup.

The Blues boss needs a forward who can lead the line at Goodison Park for years to come, and Mateta is a player the board knows well – it’s a no-brainer for TFG.

The Friedkin Group have a plan at Goodison Park

Goodison News learned on Deadline Day (3 February) that multiple players were being discussed ahead of potential moves before the window slammed shut.

However, with no available options suitable for Moyes, TFG stuck to their guns and kept their hands out of their pockets after Alcaraz’s acquisition.

While Evertonians and Moyes may be frustrated, the Blues will no longer sign players for the sake of it after years of transfer failings under the previous ownership.

Furthermore, with PSR concerns still lingering on Merseyside, any players recruited in the summer and beyond must be able to become instant successes.

Should their Premier League status be confirmed this year ahead of the move to the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, Everton will be a far more desirable landing spot for quality players than they are now.

The future is bright under TFG, and everyone involved must trust the process.
