Everton ‘to accept Jarrad Branthwaite transfer offer’ amid Manchester Utd update

David Moyes must decide whether Jarrad Branthwaite is part of his long-term plans at Everton.

Moyes has made a bright start to his second spell in charge of Everton and has the chance to move the Toffees 12 points clear of the relegation zone with victory over Liverpool at Goodison Park on Wednesday (12 February).

However, in the long run, the 61-year-old will be aiming for more than just Premier League survival, and it looks as though it could be a busy summer on Merseyside as Moyes looks to rebuild his squad.

The Friedkin Group will need to provide their manager with funds, and the sale of Branthwaite could go a long way in helping the Americans to do just that.

Manchester United target Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite

As reported by GiveMeSport (10 February), Manchester United could look to move for Branthwaite should Premier League experience emerge as a priority in their hunt for a new defender.

Everton are thought to be hopeful of keeping hold of the 22-year-old.

However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes a transfer offer would be accepted.

“Branthwaite hasn’t impressed me much recently,” King said.

“If a decent offer comes in for him, I’d imagine that Everton will accept that offer. However, he needs to increase his performance levels.

“I think Moyes will want to see more from him. The one thing Moyes likes is a couple of strong centre-backs. Branthwaite is young, but he still needs to prove to me that he is this big-money player.”

Everton to sell Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United?

United have been known to splash the cash in the past. Therefore, if a big-money offer were to come in for Branthwaite, it could prove too tempting for Everton to resist.

However, the final decision on whether or not the Englishman is sold should be down to Moyes.

With certain guarantees thought to be tied into the Everton boss’ contract, the Friedkin Group would be wise to leave any transfer decisions to the Scotsman as he aims to restore the Toffees to their former glory.
