Everton asked to release statement as Moshiri-era issue causes fresh concern

Everton have been urged to release a statement as an issue from the Farhad Moshiri era has been brought into focus.

The Toffees are looking forward to the future with the introduction of The Friedkin Group as owners and the difference they can make.

Given how tough it had become at the end of the previous regime, the new era under the Americans and David Moyes has begun brightly.

Supporters are looking ahead to making the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium their home, where financial worries will hopefully be a thing of the past.

With that being said, the fans will still be demanding answers from the L4 club after the latest sponsorship issue.

Everton must release statement after Stake development

The Evertonians currently feature online casino brand Stake as their front-of-shirt sponsor, regardless of their controversial social media presence.

The Australian-based brand signed a deal worth a reported £10million per year on Merseyside back in 2022 [The Guardian] but that now appears to be over.

The Gambling Commission’s investigation into the betting site has concluded and has resulted in their licence being removed from them as of 11 March 2025.

This will mean that a new sponsor is needed at Goodison after being warned of the risks of promoting unlawful gambling websites.

As a result of this development, Everton insider The Esk (12 February) has urged Everton to release a statement to provide some clarity.

The Esk said: “It’s difficult IMO to see how Everton can retain Stake as their main shirt sponsor and partner.

“Something for the Friedkins to add to the legacy issues of the Moshiri era. A club statement would help clarify matters.”

Everton must avoid Farhad Moshiri-type error under The Friedkins

There is no doubt that there is a fresh feeling of optimism surrounding the Toffees right now and that has a lot to do with the new American ownership.

After the turmoil of points deductions under Sean Dyche last season, supporters can finally have hope of a bright future on Merseyside.

With that being said, if a statement on this sponsorship issue isn’t made quickly, concerns will begin to build like they had under Moshiri in recent years.

The Friedkins need to prove to the Goodison faithful that they have the situation under control and won’t be negatively affected by this news from the Gambling Commission.
