Vitalii Mykolenko prediction emerges ahead of Everton v Liverpool

Liverpool will make one last trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Wednesday.

David Moyes is set to oversee the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison on 12 February with Duncan Ferguson predicting who he thinks will come out on top in the Premier League clash.

Despite the Toffees being offered slim chances of beating Liverpool, the fans at Goodison will no doubt be right behind the team from the first whistle until the last.

Moyes has a lot of first-team players unavailable at the moment, which won’t make things any easier for the Toffees. Therefore, the 61-year-old will be desperate to get Vitalii Mykolenko back out on the pitch against Arne Slot’s side.

Vitalii Mykolenko to feature for Everton v Liverpool?

Mykolenko has started 21 of Everton’s 23 Premier League games this season. However, the left-back missed out through injury as the Toffees were beaten 2-0 by Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Goodison Park on Saturday (8 February).

Speaking ahead of the match, Moyes offered an update on the defender, saying (11 February), “[Mykolenko] started training today so hopefully he could be available – that’s probably the main one.”

Therefore, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes the Ukrainian will feature against Liverpool on Wednesday.

“Listen if he is fit to train, he will play,” King said.

“What Moyes needs in this game is experienced players. Otherwise, Everton will get turned over by Liverpool. This is going to be a tough game for them, especially with the players they have out and Liverpool coming off that defeat against Plymouth.

“I can’t see them winning against Liverpool unfortunately, not with all those injury problems. I think the gap in quality is too large at this moment in time.”

Everton searching for historic victory over Liverpool

There is a lot to play for on Wednesday.

Victory for Everton would see them move 12 points clear of the relegation zone while putting a dent in their Merseyside rivals’ title hopes, just as they did last season.

However, perhaps more importantly, Moyes’ side will be keen to mark the final Merseyside Derby at the historic Goodison Park with a win.

Therefore, Mykolenko featuring is incredibly important, and if he has trained, Moyes needs to start him.
