Moyes ‘has private talks with Doucouré’ after Everton incident – ‘Out of order’

Abdoulaye Doucouré has been at the centre of plenty of controversy as a result of the 2-2 Premier League draw between Everton and Liverpool.

David Moyes’ side scored a last-gasp equaliser courtesy of James Tarkowski to draw 2-2 with Liverpool in the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.

Doucouré’s celebration in front of the travelling fans at full-time prompted a post-match brawl between the two sets of players, with Curtis Jones infuriated by his fellow midfielder’s actions.

Everton and Liverpool have since put their differences aside to condemn the vile racist abuse that Doucouré has received in the aftermath of the Merseyside Derby.

David Moyes to have words with Everton ace Abdoulaye Doucouré

After Tarkowski scored what will go down as a famous Goodison equaliser, it was fair to say that both the Everton supporters and Doucouré perhaps got slightly carried away with their celebrations.

Doucouré appears to be revelling in his new status as an Everton hero.

However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes Moyes will have had something to say to his midfielder.

“As for Doucouré, I’m sure Moyes has had words with him,” King said.

“For him to celebrate in front of the away fans, obviously he isn’t aware of what the Merseyside derby is all about, because his actions were totally out of order.

“Of course, he was going to infuriate Liverpool fans. At the end of the day, it was 2-2, they didn’t win the match. Therefore, there was no reason for him to go and celebrate in front of the Liverpool fans. I imagine that the player is going to be fined by the FA because look what his actions led to.”

Everton ace Abdoulaye Doucouré to be fined by the FA?

Everton fans will no doubt love what Doucouré did, and some might argue that there was nothing wrong with the 32-year-old’s celebrations.

However, whether it came from a place of passion or not, these sorts of things can create problems among the fans and players which could lead to dangerous situations as fans become infuriated.

Therefore, it is probably best to avoid similar incidents in the future, which Moyes is likely to have told Doucouré.
