Beto compared to Manchester United legend as ‘chaotic’ Everton admission made

Beto has been earning rave reviews on the back of his fine goalscoring form at Everton, with his name now mentioned along with a Manchester United legend.

The Guinea-Bissau international, who has scored seven goals in 50 games under Sean Dyche, has bagged four goals in his five Premier League appearances under David Moyes.

Beto continued his goalscoring form by scoring the opener for Everton in their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, 15 February.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin picking up an injury in the final days of the winter transfer window has, therefore, worked in the Toffees’ favour as they were prepared to offload the 27-year-old.

The Esk likens Beto to Manchester United great Andy Cole

Assessing Beto’s recent Premier League performances and the display against Palace, The Esk said that the striker reminds him of Manchester United great Andy Cole, particularly with the amount of clarity he has in front of the goal.

Paul Quinn, the insider who goes by The Esk, also described the former Udinese hitman as “chaotic” and insisted that he is unpredictable for the opposition players.

“What can you say about Beto?”, The Esk said on the Talking the Blues podcast, as transcribed on his website (17 February).

“You know, I said just before we started, can you think of a player that Beto reminds you of in terms of how he’s finished against Liverpool and against Crystal Palace and how generally he looks when he gets a sniff of a goal?

“And the player I am most reminded of on this occasion is Andy Cole. He looks like if you go back on YouTube and you look at some of the goals that Andy Cole scored.

“And I know many of them were obviously from Manchester United, so I apologise for that. Yeah, so we won’t be doing that, Cole.

“But he scored a few before he joined United, so you can probably go and look at Newcastle United as well, although I accept that there are limitations with that as well.

“There’s that same clarity of thinking, that coolness. Beto, I think we’ve established beforehand, is a slightly somewhat chaotic player in the sense that maybe the opposite, but certainly the opposition doesn’t know what you might do next.”

David Moyes excels at Everton

Without taking anything away from Beto, it is worth mentioning that Moyes also deserves credit for the centre-forward’s recent run of form.

The Bissau-Guinean seemed surplus to requirements under Dyche and appeared destined to leave Everton during the winter transfer window.

However, Calvert-Lewin’s injury left Beto as Moyes’ only available striker and that has allowed him to turn things around at Goodison Park.

With the Toffees now 13 points clear of the relegation zone, the former Portimonense frontman is quickly establishing himself as an important player for the Goodison Park outfit.

There is no doubt that Beto will continue to be a vital player for Moyes’ side between now and the season.

Moyes, meanwhile, will be hopeful that the player can stay fit between now and the end of the season and continue firing on all cylinders.

As for Beto, he will be determined to take his goalscoring streak to four games when Everton lock horns with Manchester United on Saturday, 22 February.
