Darren Bent drops early Everton Premier League prediction for next season

Darren Bent has given an early prediction on how he thinks things are going to pan out for Everton in the Premier League next season.

The Toffees have recently found themselves in an upturn of form thanks to the return of David Moyes to Goodison Park seemingly instilling belief back into the Merseyside outfit’s ranks.

Everton have won four out of their last five top-flight games and now feel more than safe from the potential of relegation to the Championship.

Thanks to the effort that Moyes has put in since taking over from Sean Dyche, Bent has touched on how he sees the future panning out for the Merseyside outfit next term.

Darren Bent predicts top-10 finish for Everton next season

Moyes’ return to Goodison Park has not only allowed Everton to create a 13-point gap between themselves and the bottom three but has also proven that nothing is impossible.

When Dyche was the man at the helm, it felt like the Toffees were down and out for the count but instead, they’ve persevered and now look to be in some of their best form of the season.

Their recent Merseyside derby against Liverpool ended in emphatic fashion as James Tarkowski netted a 95th-minute equaliser that saw Everton add yet another point to their tally.

And, it’s that sort of passion that Bent thinks will carry Everton through next season as he thinks they’ll end up in the top half of the Premier League in the next campaign.

“I think [they’ll end up in the] top half of the table, top 10, yeah try and get into that top 10 because I remember there was a time when they finished in there every single season,” he said live on talkSPORT (17 February).

“It was a poor season if they didn’t [finish in the top 10], so I think that will be the main aim, there is going to be a lot of moving parts in the summer.”

The Friedkin Group will have to dig deep for Everton in summer transfer window

While the Premier League’s PSR rules may have held Everton back this term, now that all their outstanding cases have been closed, it feels like the Merseyside outfit will be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that they can just go and spend a fortune without bringing any sort of money back in but at least now they might have a bit more cash to splash around.

Moyes made it clear that he wanted to add some additional new faces to his ranks in the winter transfer window but at the moment, Carlos Alcaraz will have to do.

If Everton want to end up away from the relegation battle next season and perhaps end up in the top 10 of the Premier League as Bent suggested, it feels like The Friedkin Group will have to dig deep.

Multiple players such as Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison are only on season-long loans and the fact that Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman are both well into their thirties means that replacements will likely have to be sourced soon.

Only time will tell what the future holds but if Everton don’t spend a decent chunk of change, it’s hard to see how they’d be able to make any sort of progress.
