Everton in ‘Unbelievable’ developments as Andy Goldstein stunned
Andy Goldstein was left stunned after what he has seen at Everton since David Moyes arrived back in Merseyside.
Although the season started very poorly for the Toffees, with relegation looking like a real threat, the Scotsman has been able to steady the ship since his return.
In six Premier League games under the management of Moyes, the Toffees have only lost one of those which has seen them climb the table to go 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
Andy Goldstein praises David Moyes at Everton
Although there was expected to be an increase in performance levels with the bounce of a new manager, it’s unlikely many would have predicted just how much of an impact Moyes has had at Goodison Park.
In Sean Dyche’s defence, the Toffees have been a well-oiled machine defensively for much of the campaign but it’s at the other end of the pitch where they struggled to make an impact.
However, any worries about that have surely been put to bed – as praised by Gary Lineker – with Everton having scored 12 goals since the Scotsman’s arrival.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (18 February), Goldstein was stunned, saying: “Listen Everton were in massive trouble when David Moyes went there. They were 16th in the Premier League, one point clear of the relegation zone with just three wins all season.
“They’re now 13 points clear of the drop zone. Unbelievable since he’s got there.”
Everton a different team under David Moyes
The change in standards at Goodison have been quite remarkable and supporters will surely be over the moon about how the appointment has gone.
There is plenty of football to be played but the thought of seeing the Toffees anywhere near the bottom of the table now feels unfathomable.
With the Blues getting ready to move to Bramley Moore Dock at the end of the season, the future is starting to look exciting in Merseyside.
Although Kevin Thelwell has warned Everton supporters that building an ambitious side will take time, it certainly feels as though the Toffees are coming out of the worst period.
If Moyes can maintain his current level of success with Everton, there will no doubt be very exciting times ahead in their new home.
Nevertheless, immediate thoughts inside the stadium will remain on continuing to improve the current form to ensure mathematic safety in the top flight.
Only then might we see the Scotsman ready to start getting excited about the next page at Everton?
