Everton set to hire new public face ahead of Friedkins with announcement soon

Everton have identified a new appointment in a bid to bolster their backroom staff.

Since the takeover from The Friedkin Group, several changes have already been implemented at Everton with the appointment of David Moyes the most prominent.

Moyes has masterminded the current revival of Everton after the Toffees looked destined for relegation under the stewardship of Sean Dyche.

His appointment is just one of the many changes made by TFG that have massively lifted the atmosphere at Goodison Park and it appears as though they are set to make another crucial one.

Angus Kinnear in line for Everton appointment

According to The I Paper (20 February), Everton are closing in on the appointment of a permanent CEO, having been without one since the departure of Denise Barrett-Baxendale two years ago.

The news outlet reported that Angus Kinnear is the front-runner for the role that would see a new figure “join with a remit to lead an on and off-the-field transformation” as the Toffees get set for an announcement soon.

Kinnear has played a crucial role behind the scenes at his current club Leeds United, helping them in their quest to achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

The role played by Kinnear in that success shouldn’t be undermined and it is a living showcase as to why TFG will be keen to add him to the staff on Merseyside, with a new “public face” likely.

Kinnear has spent eight years at Elland Road, though his stay with the Peacocks looks to be coming to an end with a move to Everton pending.

Everton would benefit from Kinnear appointment

Fortunes have certainly changed at Everton since TFG’s takeover but their work is far from completion with a series of changes still needed over the coming months.

The appointment of Kinnear would go a long way towards achieving that given his track record at Leeds and the part he has played in their success so far this season which is certainly looking like it will end with promotion back to the Premier League.

Many of Kinnear’s decisions at Elland Road were questioned at the time, but almost all of them have paid off with Leeds back on the up and it would be an excellent addition for the Toffees.

Everton are expected to make an announcement soon regarding their vacant CEO position.
