Everton v Man United postponement latest as Met Office issue new weather warnings

Everton take on Manchester United on Saturday in the backdrop of the Met Office issuing weather warnings all across the United Kingdom.

The Toffees play host to a struggling Manchester United side at Goodison Park on 22 February.

David Moyes would look to get one over the side that sacked him a little over a decade ago.

Everton v Manchester United not expected to encounter weather problems

There has been a yellow warning issued in North-West Wales for Friday, 21 February, with the expectation of strong and gusty southerly winds to cause disruption.

For Sunday, almost the entire United Kingdom bar London and a few southern cities, has seen a yellow warning issued.

However, there are no warnings issued anywhere on Saturday, which likely means that no games should be delayed because of adverse weather.

As seen on the Met Office website, over the next seven days, only Friday and Sunday have been flagged.

David Moyes will be looking to beat Manchester United

The Scotsman would relish the chance to outwit Manchester United this weekend, driven by a potent mix of personal history and professional pride.

His tenure at United was a bitter chapter—sacked after just 10 months despite a six-year contract, ending his dream stint as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor with a seventh-place finish, the club’s lowest in decades at the time.

The abrupt dismissal left scars, and facing United at Goodison Park offers a shot at redemption.

Moyes has since proven his mettle, notably at West Ham, where he secured the 2023 Europa Conference League, yet the sting of Old Trafford lingers.

Beating United would be a symbolic triumph, silencing critics who branded him a failure.

Meanwhile, the Toffees, buoyed by home advantage, will fancy their chances.

Under Moyes’ second spell since January, they’ve transformed, winning four of six league games with a revitalised and aggressive style.

Fans have also quickly bought into their new manager who seems to be guiding them to safety and begin the Bramley-Moore Dock era in the Premier League.
