James Garner poor, Docoure MOTM — Everton player ratings v Man United
Everton have extended their unbeaten run after the 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Goodison Park.
The Toffees hosted the Red Devils at home in the Premier League on Saturday (22 February) and got another point.
David Moyes dropped Carlos Alcaraz from the starting lineup in what was a surprising change after the Argentine midfielder’s recent performances.
Beto opened the scoring at Goodison before Abdoulaye Docoure doubled the lead in the first half, but Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte helped the visitors get a point.
Here, Goodison News have given their players ratings for the game:

Everton player ratings v Manchester United
Jordan Pickford – 5
Pickford didn’t have much to do in the game, as Man United were relatively quiet for most of the game. The goalkeeper got it wrong with Fernandes’ free-kick but couldn’t have done much. Ugarte equalised late in the game as well. His distribution during the fixture could have been a bit better. Made an impressive save in the end to deny the Red Devils’ captain.
Jake O’Brien – 5
O’Brien has made the right-back position his own, but his attacking output arguably hasn’t been the best, and understandably so. Overall, the Ireland international was solid when called upon, but could’ve done more during the game. The yellow card put a slight blot on his display.
James Tarkowski – 5
Tarkowski showcased immense leadership throughout the fixture and didn’t let the opposition attackers get the better of him in most duels. But towards the end, the Toffees’ backline faltered.
Jarrad Branthwaite – 7
Branthwaite was undoubtedly the best of the bunch in defence, as he was comfortable on the ball and put in some crunching tackles. The centre-back didn’t let the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have any space for most of the game.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 6
Mykolneko was decent on both ends of the pitch, making some important runs in the final third and putting some decent balls into the box. The Ukrainian left-back also did the job when called upon in defence.
James Garner (Substituted in the 81st minute) – 4
Garner didn’t have his best games against his former side, as he failed to be an influential figure in the engine room. The midfielder had several wayward passes and was dispossessed a few times.
Idrissa Gueye – 7
Gueye was a rock for the Toffees in the middle of the park for most of the fixture and broke up several of Man United’s attacks.

Docoure shines at Goodison Park v Manchester United
Abdoulaye Doucoure (Substituted in the 81st minute) – 9
Doucoure was the man of the match as he assisted the first goal and scored the second. The 32-year-old was a constant threat in the final third and forced some impressive saves from Andre Onana.
Minutes | Goals | Assists |
81 | 1 | 1 |
Jesper Lindstrom (Substituted in the 54th minute) – 4
Lindstrom was one of the weak links for the Blues as he struggled to do much in most of the game before being substituted early in the first half.
Jack Harrison – 7
Harrison was a constant threat on the left wing as he created a few opportunities for the Merseyside outfit. The forward was calm in possession and took on opposition defenders with ease.
Beto – 6
Beto opened the scoring for the Blues but was quiet for the rest of the game as Man United made a comeback late on.
Substitutes:
Ashley Young – 6
Young was outstanding with some of his crosses after coming on.
Carlos Alcaraz – N/A
Tim Iroegbunam – N/A
