Everton injury exclusive: Armando Broja return update emerges

Everton striker Armando Broja appears to have a full rupture in multiple ankle ligaments, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that this has led to a long runway for him to return to first-team football, coupled with his previous ACL rupture.

Broja, 23, joined from Chelsea on loan, and last played for the Toffees on 9 January against Peterborough in the FA Cup.

Everton striker Armando Broja unlikely to be back until second week of March

The Albania international arrived at Goodison Park with a less-than-ideal fitness record and things have not panned out well for him since his move.

He has battled fitness issues and just as it looked like he had found his groove in late December and early January, he suffered another setback.

Now, he’s not expected to return to first-team football until the second week of March which would mean over two months out.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Broja: “With foot and ankle injuries, it can be difficult to discern the full extent of the injury in the early days and the rehab plan can fluctuate depending on how the player responds.

It does sound like he has a full rupture in multiple ankle ligaments which is a long runway for recovery plus he already missed significant time coming off the ACL injury.

The key to reducing the risk of setbacks is a methodical rehab and return to play plan.

He’s not expected to be back until the second week of March.

Toffees receive an unlikely hero in Beto

Given Dr Brar’s‘ assessment, not only will Broja not be available for the next three weeks, but it’s expected to take him some more time to return to full fitness.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin also out with an injury, it would’ve been a crisis situation for David Moyes had it not been for Beto, who’s emerged as an unlikely hero.

He’s now bagged five goals in his last four Premier League games and even when the two strikers are back to full fitness, the Guinea-Bissau international is expected to retain his spot in the team.
