David Moyes drops ‘remarkable’ Brentford admission ahead of Everton clash
David Moyes was full of praise for Brentford before Wednesday’s Premier League clash but made a stark admission about Everton’s own ambitions.
Both teams have been in impressive form recently with each earning three wins out of their last five Premier League games.
At the moment, six points separate the two mid-table sides with each looking to continue their impressive runs of form.
Everton seem set to only have Nathan Patterson missing from their matchday squad in terms of new injuries with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja still in recovery.
The Bees have been an interesting presence in the Premier League since their promotion and Moyes didn’t hold back his praise when asked about them.

Moyes believes Frank’s team are ‘remarkable’
By the time the end of the season comes around, it’s likely that Everton’s story will be seen as one of the best to have emerged from the campaign.
However, the fact that Brentford have managed to stay in the Premier League for as long as they have is fairly impressive with Moyes even admitting that himself when he was asked whether Everton should aspire to be like the Bees.
Team | Position | Points |
Fulham | 10th | 39 |
Brentford | 11th | 37 |
Tottenham | 12th | 33 |
Crystal Palace | 13th | 33 |
Everton | 14th | 31 |
“I’m going to say no to that answer. I think they’re a great run club. I think what they have done over the years is remarkable,” he said in quotes relayed by Ian Croll via X (25 February).
“But I think Everton have got bigger aspirations than Brentford.”

Moyes is already Everton’s saviour
While some may have been questioning The Friedkin Groups’ thought process when turning to Moyes to try and save Everton’s season, he’s more than managed to prove the doubters wrong.
His time away from Goodison Park was filled with plenty of joy with his biggest achievement likely winning the Europa Conference League with West Ham United.
The Scotsman’s time at the London Stadium may have come to a bit of an abrupt end with David Sullivan opting against offering him an extension to his stay but that doesn’t mean he left with a sour taste in his mouth.
In fact, when Julen Lopetegui was sacked from his role, some fans were calling for him to return, however, they opted for Graham Potter instead, much to Everton’s liking.
When Moyes returned to Goodison, it was unknown what he’d be able to do with the Merseyside outfit due to the poor form they’d been in since the start of the term.
However, he’s managed to bring back a level of belief to the club which many thought was long gone and thanks to his appointment, Everton have lived to fight another day in the top flight.
